Apply to affected area for NO LONGER than 15 minutes. Use a layer of towels between your skin and the heating pad. Remove for at least 1 hour then repeat. 2-3 applications a day is advisable.

Use a heating pad or a warm towel to help relieve muscle aches and tension. Be sure not to cause yourself more pain and avoid burns by using a towel between the heating pad and your skin. As with ice, only apply heat for about 20 minutes at a time.

Heat should be put applied for about 20 to 30 minutes or as long and as often as directed. Always put a cloth between your skin and the heat pack to prevent burns. Check your skin for color changes or blisters about every 5 minutes. Remove the heat if you notice skin changes.
